About Gen7

Gen7 Renewables Energy is an Irish solar company developing a solar farm in the New Ross District in Co Wexford.

As a company we bring together over one hundred years of expertise in engineering, finance, information technology, new business development and marketing with the core skills to successfully develop and operate what will be one of the largest solar farms in Ireland.

About the project

Gen7 is partnering with Eirgrid /ESB Networks, the government and local landowners to develop a solar farm in southwest Wexford, providing much needed renewable electricity into the national grid and helping Ireland meet its carbon reduction goals.

In addition to the core team, Gen7 has assembled an experienced team of consultants covering design, planning, construction and all disciplines required to develop and operate the solar farm by mid 2027.

Progress to date

Gen7 is on track to submit planning for the solar farm/substation in October/November 2024 with an outline plan to supply electricity to the network in 2027. The company have already made significant progress to meet those targets:

  • Five landowners have signed onto the programme for phase 1. Planning will be submitted to Wexford County Council in October 2024.
  • Based on the design process timeline, the company will finalise the solar farm’s land configuration by Autumn 2024. Public consultation will take place through the Summer and Autumn.
